Tom Watkins, real life pet detective photographed for The Telegraph Magazine

In March, myself and writer Guy Kelly, spent the day with Animal Rescue UK – or more colloquially, the pet detectives for a feature in The Telegraph Magazine. I was looking forward to this commission as I didn’t really know what to expect and thought it might be an interesting insight into a profession I never knew existed. Naturally, when I heard the word ” pet detective” an image of Jim Carrey popped in to my head (more specifically the scene where he’s going across the lawn in the smashed up 4×4). Luckily, events with these pet detectives weren’t as chaotic.
