Dan Guthrie, who is campaigning for the removal of the Blackboy clock in Stroud, photographed for The Observer. A report commissioned by the Stroud council concluded that the clock, made in 1781, is undoubtedly associated with slavery. Guthrie says “it is an offensive rascist relic from the past and the fact that it is still up in Stroud is a complete mystery to me.”
